The Business Engineering for Data Science Lab (B4DS) is a joint research laboratory of the University of Pisa, with members from two departments of the Engineering Schools (DESTEC and DICI). B4DS puts together professors, researchers, PhD candidates and students working on cutting edge applications in data science in the context of business management. The main topics of interest are natural language processing, product design and innovation management.

“We develop and deploy quantitative cutting-edge methods to understand the changing digital environment”

Vision

The impact that new data driven technologies are on organisations and products demand society’s attention. There exists a need in understanding the managerial and business impacts of the fourth industrial revolution. We believe that this fast changing process must be measured using the data it is producing in order to foster scientific understanding and public values.

Mission

We develop and deploy quantitative cutting-edge methods to understand the changing digital environment in which companies are operating. In this scientifically rigorous process, we engage business and public stakeholders in conversation about real-world solutions in order to foster technology transfer.
